Our Trustees

The board of trustees have wide experience in responding to child sexual abuse, investigation and prosecution and working in the public and the voluntary sector.

Tony Butler, CBE, QPM, PhD, is the former chief constable of Gloucestershire and held the national responsibility on behalf of the Association of Chief Police Officers for matters related to child protection between 1990 and 2001. He coordinated the introduction of the interagency collaboration to implement video recording of child victim interviews following the legal changes in 1992. He has extensive experience of working overseas on child protection and related issues.

Ian Clark served for 31 years in the Gloucestershire Constabulary and retired in 2006 in the rank of superintendent. For 10 years he was involved in the national coordination of child protection policies and practice and in this role served on a number of government working groups. He currently works at the National Star College as a project leader developing opportunities for young people with physical and learning difficulties to gain employment.

Steve Pilkington, CBE, QPM, PhD, is the former chief constable of Avon and Somerset and served in the Metropolitan Police for 25 years. Whilst chief constable he actively supported the work of the trust through the provision of trainers and the hosting of study visits. He also has extensive experience in supporting the voluntary sector.
