Costa Rica Project
Video interview recording equipment was installed in specially designed accommodation in the main court building in San Jose, Costa Rica in June 2006. Training was provided to 12 investigators by a police officer from Avon and Somerset Constabulary, who is a specialist in child protection work and a fluent Spanish speaker. The British Embassy in Costa Rica, sponsored the project and has continued to provide support as it has developed. Plans are being discussed to extend the use of video recorded interviews to other parts of Costa Rica.
